TLR 22X-4 Upgrade/Optional Parts
In his first race with the TLR Carbon Fiber Chassis for his 22X-4, Zeke Ballinger was able to win the 2021 Desert Classic Championship for Expert 13.5 4WD Buggy. With the Carbon Fiber Chassis, Zeke had the lightest car in the class giving him the acceleration to clear the tricky front triple jump for the full 5-minutes when other competitors had to double-single part way through the race. This advantage gave Zeke the inside track for the win and he took full advantage!
The TLR race team has found the Carbon Fiber Chassis to perform best when paired with the Carbon Front Steering to Gearbox Brace, and the Stiffezel Mud Guards to optimize the flex characteristics of the 22X-4.
Key Features
- Weight is the best way to improve the performance of your 22X-4. It makes the buggy handle better, stay flatter, accelerate harder, brake quicker, land smoother, and just go flat-out faster.
- The 22X-4 2.5mm aluminum chassis weighs around 115g, while the 22X-4 Carbon Chassis weights in at 75-77g - a weight savings of 38-40g!
- The massive 40g weight savings allows spec racers to run full-sized short batteries at near minimum weight.
- Unlike most off-road Carbon Fiber Chassis that are cut from flat sheet carbon and require an aluminium front bulkhead for the chassis kick up, which effectively cancels out the weight savings, the TLR 22X-4 Carbon Chassis is laid and includes the front chassis kick up in the carbon plate so no extra weight is added back on!

LCD type driveshafts reduce the dramatic angles applied to the bone/axle coupler joint, which helps to reduce driveshaft bind and vibration.
These are recommended for surfaces like carpet and astroturf, and are also beneficial on high grip clay surfaces as well.
Package includes the parts needed to build two driveshafts.
The TLR 22X-4 Carbon Fiber Shock Tower set is made from 100% carbon fiber, added upper camber link, lightly chamfered edges to maintain that TLR factory look and to help prevent splitting, and Avid logo machined into the upper support arm.

TLR Ringer Black Shock Kit includes everything needed to convert your complete vehicle over to our black aluminum parts. The kit includes 4 threaded shock collars that feature offset laser-etched Avid logos for ease of matching spring tension left and right in 1/4 turn increments as well as 4 shock bottom caps that are knurled with a silver ringer highlight machining.

The F2 body is a drop fit for the popular TLR 22X-4 buggy.
With the evolution of racetracks, complicated circuits combining more aggressive jumps and extremely high-speed corners, JConcepts incorporated many features which provide several benefits in the most critical situations. Increased windshield angle provides a steady force upfront during mid-flight wind gusts on large jumps. Forward cab placement changes performance / visible bias which help steering rotation in low traction corners.
The side-pods have been simplified and JC chamfered to remove unwanted changes in height to neutralize the at-speed handling. The rear of the pod has been lowered giving a low-profile look. The front of the body has the Finnisher step-down treatment giving the 22X-4 first in class styling. The rear of the cab has the Finnisher V-step feature which allows the placement of a secondary side window and several louver options off the rear.
The F2 body in the hands of Dakotah Phend won the 2020 Midwest Championship and JConcepts Winter Indoor Nationals. The JConcepts body is designed exclusively for the new 22X-4 platform and includes all the necessary cut-lines and each package includes the S-Type wings. Additional S-Type wings are also sold separately as #0193.

Slammed overall height allows the S2 to whisk through the turns with a low center of mass while the progressive cab design provides plenty of front-end force for superior balance and steering. A channeled roof directs the flow through the center of the body while also increasing the rigidity of cockpit. The dual side-window design that has become famous on the JConcepts bodies remains to bring a traditional feel to the layout.

The Avid TLR 22X-4 Chassis Brace Support Tuning Set is designed to make the car more predictable to drive while providing more confidence by stiffening the front end with a thick 3.5mm brace and softening the rear with a 1.5mm brace.

Titanium Lower Shock Mounts for 10th scale vehicles make it easy for getting your shocks off and on while not wearing out the plastic from repeated uses. The one design feature we added to this common product is the 6 small holes in each mount. They are not there to lose weight but rather to help keep the mount from backing out as easily when taking the nut off the end, acting as a bit of a serration.

The Avid TLR 22X-4 Carbon Front Top Deck limits the front flex which substantially improves the jumping/landing of the car while also allowing the front end to be more precise and less twitchy, so you can nail the perfect apex every time.

The Avid TLR 22 5.0 Ringer Shock Standoffs are a direct replacement for the kit standoffs, including (4) 13mm standoffs, and (4) Delrin™ pivot bushings. They are made of black anodized 7075 Aluminium with a 7mm nut and our Ringer design silver highlights at the base to blind your competition with.
Each standoff is fully threaded to help prevent bent shock mount screws. The Delrin™ pivot bushings are designed to rest against the smooth standoff instead of the screw which extends the life of them however they can be replaced to help maintain a tight fit in your shock cap when needed.

The Avid M4 Ringer Wheel Nuts are designed to be the strongest all-around wheel nut for offroad and touring car racing. The 11mm flange provides the needed support from potential wheel flex on high bite tracks.
A thin 3.5mm thickness keeps weight down but also allows the nut to be used on 4wd fronts and if you cut your axles to length you will grab fewer pipes with them too. They included *aggressive serrations so you don't have to tighten the wheel nut as much which helps in not deforming the wheel and ensures you will never pull the 7075-T6 threads out.
And last but not least, the two silver highlights don't get lost on a white wheel giving you that extra pop.
Tips
* Since 2017, the Avid RC proven serration design is best used by turning the nut to where it begins to tighten up on the wheel and then just give it two haptic clicks. Avid RC recommend trying it on the bench and unscrewing it after you do it so feel how much hold their nut actually has. No more need to deform your wheel or risk of pulling your threads out by overtightening.

TLR advise that these are only to be used in conjunction with a Centre Diff (TLR332085) as a slipper can overload them.

These Delrin™ pivot bushings come in a pack of 4 as replacements for our AE / TLR Shock Standoffs. These bushings rest on the smooth surface of the standoff instead of on the threads of the screw which allows them to last longer. However, over time the bushing can still wear and it is beneficial to replace them for a tight fit into your shock cap.
