The RC10 started as the vision of Team Associated’s founder Roger Curtis (RC) and became one of the most iconic RC cars in history.

At the inaugural IFMAR Off Road World Championships, Jay Halsey took first place with his RC10 in the 2WD class, but did you know he also raced a prototype 4WD RC10 in the 4WD class and took second place?

Team Associated never advanced that prototype 4WD and instead focused on 2WD. But what if Team Associated had developed a 4WD RC10? You’d get the RC10 4WD off road buggy!

Our team of engineers took the iconic RC10, the knowledge of 4WD racing from the B74, and created the RC10 4WD. No more having to buy an RC10 kit, a conversion kit, and random parts. Now you can have a genuine Team Associated RC10 4WD that is meant to be raced, with all the parts in one box. All you need to do is add electronics and hit the track!

Front and rear Stealth® transmissions with adjustable ball differentials, race proven V2 slipper clutch system, CVA driveshafts and durable low-friction center belt tension system.
The smooth undercarriage of the RC10’s aluminum monocoque tub and special gearboxes provide maximum ground clearance.

Independent suspension with hard anodized coil-over shocks help smooth out the bumps. Precision molded; nylon suspension components can be easily custom color dyed. Long front A-Arm/Ball Joint design permits static camber, camber rise, caster, ride height and spring rate tuning to suit every type of track.

IT STARTED FROM THE BEGINNING!

Going all the way back to 1985 at the very first IFMAR Off Road World Championships, Team Associated had always been interested in entering the 4WD buggy market. That’s why at that race, in Del Mar, California, Jay Halsey drove a prototype 4WD RC10. After taking first place in the 2WD Stock class earlier that day, Jay was poised to take first in the 4WD class as well. As fate would have it though, Jay finished a close second driving that prototype 4WD RC10 buggy. It wouldn’t be until many years later that Team Associated would finally produce a 4WD off road kit, the B44. To fill in the gap between that first IFMAR Off Road Worlds and the release of the B44, many aftermarket companies designed and produced their own RC10 4WD conversion kits. With the release of the Team Associated RC10 4WD kit you no longer have to piece a 4WD buggy together and hope everything fits. With our genuine Team Associated parts, everything you need to assemble a 4WD kit comes in one box!

The iconic RC10 is now available as a 4WD race buggy with everything included in one box. Build a high-performance race buggy from the 90s that is meant to be raced, using the latest electronics of your choice (electronics not included; fits 6-cell NiMh and 2S LiPo batteries).

The Truck category of off road competition makes unique demands in chassis, suspension and overall design. Team Associated’s RC10T Cliff Lett Edition benefits from the race-proven engineering of our Multi-time World Champion RC10. But in fact, the RC10T shares only the alloy monocoque tub, Stealth A.T.C. transmission and racing shocks of the legendary RC10 Team Car.

Prototypes of the RC10T proved highly competitive, finishing first and second in the 1991 Florida Winter Championships. Unique features, all of which are incorporated into the production RC10T, include a long wheelbase and super wide track to optimize the Truck Class regulations. Suspension arms are precision molded from virgin nylon and reinforced to be exceptionally strong, yet very light. The four wheel independent suspension, shocks, and towers also allow for extremely long travel.

Truck racing wheels and tires were also developed specially for the RC10T. This rerelease RC10T comes with standard wide mini pin rear tires, neon red powder coated chassis, and the famously banned narrow front tires. All wheels are lightweight, 3-piece modular design, molded perfectly concentric in virgin nylon. The narrow front tires were designed for the existing ROAR Truck Class rules of the era, and used on the winning prototype RC10T’s.

A TRIBUTE TO RACING EXCELLENCE

We are proud to present the RC10T Cliff Lett Edition, a tribute to the legendary stadium truck that made its mark at the 1991 Florida Winter Champs. This special edition faithfully recreates the look and performance of the original RC10T that Cliff drove to victory at the debut race of this iconic platform. At the heart of this release is the striking powder-coated fluorescent red chassis, a signature feature that not only catches the eye but also pays homage to the truck that dominated the competition more than three decades ago.

Staying true to its roots, the RC10T Cliff Lett Edition includes RCPS turnbuckles, which provide enhanced durability and precise adjustability, allowing drivers to fine-tune the truck for optimal performance. The truck is also equipped with the legendary Stealth transmission, a game-changing innovation that delivers smooth and efficient power transfer. To reinforce the transmission and maintain consistent performance under stress, we’ve also included a carbon fiber transmission brace, giving the truck the same durability and stability that Cliff relied on during his championship-winning run.

Cliff Lett is a renowned figure in the RC industry, known for his contributions to Team Associated and his pivotal role in advancing RC car technology. Before making a name in RC racing, Cliff began his career in the motocross industry as a factory mechanic for Yamaha team member Ricky Johnson. His work with high-performance motocross bikes equipped him with a deep understanding of suspension dynamics, gear ratios, and vehicle setup—skills that would later become invaluable in the RC world.

Cliff’s passion for RC racing led him to transition from motocross to the fast-growing RC industry in the mid 1980s. His expertise quickly gained recognition, and in 1985, he founded RC Performance Specialties (RCPS), a company dedicated to producing high-quality aftermarket parts for RC cars. RCPS specialized in performance upgrades that enhanced the durability and handling of RC vehicles, making them popular among serious racers. Items like titanium turnbuckles, hinge pins, the Mirage SS body, and Green Slime are just a few items produced by RCPS.

In 1988, Cliff’s talents caught the attention of Team Associated, a dominant force in the RC racing world. Upon joining Team Associated, founder Roger Curtis suggested that Associated purchase RCPS and all of its products and rebrand it as Factory Team, the company’s high-performance division focused on producing top-tier parts and accessories for competitive racing. Cliff’s expertise played a critical role in the development of several iconic RC products, including the RC10T, RC10GT, Team Car, Worlds Car. RC10B2, TC3, Stealth transmission, and more!

Team Moo DID YOU KNOW?

Team driver, Derek Furutani, used to paint Cliff’s race bodies. During that time Derek and a few other racers created Team Moo, a play on the phrase “Moooov-over!”; something they jokingly said at club races. They asked if Cliff wanted to join the Team Moo club which Cliff happily accepted. So, Derek painted up Cliff’s RC10T body for the Florida Winter Champs with cow spots and all his other bodies mooooving forward.

As both a designer and driver, Cliff Lett contributed immensely to Team Associated’s success. His ability to fine-tune vehicles for peak performance earned him multiple national and international titles, while his innovations helped solidify Team Associated’s reputation for excellence. Lett’s lasting impact on the RC industry continues to influence competitive RC racing, and his journey from Yamaha mechanic to RC legend serves as an inspiration for enthusiasts and engineers alike.

THE FIRST 2WD OFF ROAD WORLD WINNER!
Only eight months after it’s release on July 11, 1985, the legendary RC10 driven by Jammin’ Jay Halsey claimed victory as the first IFMAR 2WD Stock World Champion. It was at this inaugural edition of the IFMAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road World Championships in Del Mar California where history was made.

At the time Jay didn’t know how important the race was and how legendary the buggy he drove would become. Looking back, he now realizes the impact it made in RC history; not only for Team Associated, but for himself as well. Racing for Team Associated allowed him to travel the world attending different races. It’s what helped him get where he is today, working in the television and film industry.

Race the car that changed RC off-road racing forever!
On December 5th, 1984 the All-American designed Team Associated RC10 was introduced to the RC world. Being the first to take home the gold in both the ROAR National and IFMAR 2WD World Championships, the RC10 secured its place as a legend in RC car history.
 
This year (2024) marks the 40th anniversary of the RC10 and we are proud to offer this special limited “Jammin” Jay Halsey Edition kit.
 
Staying true to the world champion winning buggy, this kit features the same race car technology introduced in the 80s along with the same upgrades Jay ran at the first IFMAR Worlds in Del Mar California. It was this race along with many others that helped launch Jay’s career in the television and film industry.
