These are made out of aluminium to decrease wear, and allow for increased time between clutch maintenance. They also are good for powerful engines, because they will provide a firm engagement of the clutch bell with less slipping. This is a single CERAMIC 5x13x4mm Metal Bearing from AVID Racing Concepts.
Bearing Dimensions:
The Halo ceramic series of bearings are a high quality steel/chrome bearing with metal shields and silicone nitride ceramic balls (Si3N4). These bearings have been tested and proven by many racers.
5x13x4 Halo ceramic bearing by Avid Racing Concepts is the standard bearing for the 1/8th Losi 8ight, Serpent, and Agama clutches.
A ceramic can spin at higher rpms with less drag and the life of the bearing is far greater than a steel bearing but in our industry we suggest that you maintain them with oil or grease every half-gallon to a gallon for the longest life possible.
Another benefit to ceramics is the weight difference in the balls allowing for less rotating mass. These bearings also come with our newly developed high speed and temp oil instead of grease. So you no longer have to remove the grease. Just put them in and run.

Product Overview
The 5x10x4 Avid Clutch Bearing Set is designed to withstand all of the torture you throw at them. AVID RC decided to stop trying to find a happy medium of a single bearing to cover both clutches and wheels. Clutch temperatures easily reach three (3) times more than that of a wheel bearing. In order to make this bearing more suitable for high temps and insane loads, several things had to be adjusted.- First, the balls are 20% larger than the AVID RC standard $2 bearing.
- Second, the depth of the grooves is much deeper so that there is a massive increase in the surface area for the larger balls.
- Third, the grooves are polished more than our standard bearing for a smoother surface which ensures the balls have the least amount of friction when experiencing those high loads.
- Lastly, the metal ribbon cage is replaced with nylon like our Aura and Engine Bearings which are 9-time IFMAR World Champions. This removes the metal to metal drag during high heat expansion.
Tips
Simply use an air compressor to blow the sides of each bearing for five (5) seconds and wipe the grease with a towel that comes out of the other side. The reason why this is done is that the clutch gets VERY hot. The heat ends up melting the grease and flinging it onto your clutch bell causing the shoes to slip and exponentially raising the temperature within the clutch. Within minutes, your bearings will have melted off all of the lubricants. The temperature, being twice what it should be, causes the metal to expand, the bearing to bind, and ultimately, fail.Specifications

Rubber seals are great protectors against dirt but the price is that they offer a little more friction due to the tighter seal. Now the performance of a metal shield is excellent but allows dirt to get in easily. So with the Revolution series, you run the rubber side towards the outside and the metal towards the inside. You get the protection of the rubber but the added performance by having one less rubber seal.
>But you don't have to stop there, if you are truly performance oriented and want the least amount of friction then you're in luck. You can quickly pop off the rubber seal with an X-acto and place the metal shield facing outward in your hubs. This is the best performance you could attain while maintaining some protection from dirt.
